DESERT

is where I live

One month after arrival in America

Posted by Monkey on August 8, 2008

The second time out of China, it’s been a month now. Life is busy and full of pressure, puzzle, confusion and problems. You have to do everything you can to survive and remain happy, but that’s what life is all about. In China, everything is under control, no surprise, no expectation, no dream. Even if I have problem, all my friends and relatives are there, ready to help. Life is the same everyday, passion subsides, and spirit dies. The outside world is very big. Once you are out there, alone, anything could happen. You meet people with totally different habits and customs, visit exotic places; natural disasters might even happen to you. You expect a new surprise everyday, and virtually turn life into an adventure. Although there are more challenges in a strange environment, but I would say I love my life here much better than that in China.

Nobody understands why I came out. I don’t explain and I don’t expect them to understand. It has something to do with one’s view of life, one’s pursuant and vision.

You haven’t got out of the so called excitement yet. Tell you the truth: after some time you’ll find out that US is much more boring than China. You can see what you will be like at 60s when you are in mid 20s. You wonder why? Because this is not your country!

Thank you. I wanted to reply for a long time, just didn’t have the right function. I have been in the U.S. for two years, and went back, but came out again. If it’s just excitement, I won’t make this choice. It’s all about how you view and feel about your life.

    Hey Vagred,

I agree with your views and I think it takes a brave and adventurous soul to explore the world like you. As I know life is short and your time to be active in life is even more short. So enjoy it as much as you can while you can and never regret a second of it. I’ve had to take care of myself from a young age no matter what life has thrown my way, good things and bad. Its an adventure and i feel a better and stronger person because of it.

I have been in US for almost ten years, and seen so many friends in China, in US and some of them do back and forth. Point of my view is, if you want to live for yourself and your family then stay in US, if you want to live for someone else, then back to China.

Sometimes I think we make decisions just to feel different or special. Sometimes we make decisions because we want to explore and be adventurous.
